9 kitchen items that strengthen brittle nails

Poor nutrition or ageing can make your nail thin and brittle. Nails can also become brittle due to prolonged consumption of some medicines. Peeling, splitting, or breaking of nails is very common.   1. Coconut oil: Warm 1 tbsp of coconut oil in a bowl and massage each nail for 1 minute. Coconut oil massage improves blood circulation and softens the cuticles. Coconut oil also helps moisturize your nails, which will reduce the chances of breaking.
  2. Olive Oil: Dip your fingers in 2 tbsp of olive oil for 10 minutes. You can also massage each finger for 1 minute with olive oil. Olive oil helps in the absorption of calcium and improves the calcification process. Doing olive oil massage will make your nails stronger.
  3. Lemon juice: Lemon is a common item in our kitchens. Being rich in Vitamin C, lemon juice is very effective in reducing the brittleness of nails. Take fresh lemon juice. Use cotton balls to apply this lemon juice to each nail. Wait for 2-3 minutes and wash your nails with lukewarm water. Vitamin C helps in fending off the free radicals and reduces nail damage.
  4. Apple cider vinegar: It is an effective kitchen item that keeps your nails hydrated. Dry nails are more prone to breaking. Mix 1tbsp of Apple Cider Vinegar with 2-3 cups of warm water. Dampen cotton balls in this solution and apply it to your nails.
  5. Tomato juice: Tomato juice is another effective kitchen item that helps heal brittle nails. Take 2 tbsp of tomato juice and mix it with 2 drops of rosemary oil. Dip your fingers in this solution for 10 minutes, and then wash your fingers with water. The presence of antioxidants and proteins in tomatoes helps in keeping our nails healthy and improves their texture.
  6. Sea Salt: It is an easily available item in our kitchens. Take 1 tbsp of sea salt into a bowl of warm water. Soak your hands in this solution for 15-20 minutes. Then wipe your hands with a wet towel. Seal salt solution helps in softening the cuticles of nails. Additionally, it also helps in treating brittle nails. Use this solution twice a day for 1 week to get better results.
  7. Almond oil: Take 1 tbsp of almond oil and add 1 tsp of lemon juice to it. Mix the solution well. You can soak your nails in this solution for 2 minutes or can also gently massage every nail with this solution. Almonds are rich in antioxidants, so they prevent the drying and breaking of nails.
  8. Argon oil: Take 1 tbsp of Argon oil and massage your nails with it. This oil softens the nail cuticles, reduces their brittleness, and prevents them from breaking. To get better results, massage your nails daily for 1-2 weeks.
  9. Tea tree oil: Take 1 tsp of Tea Tree oil and mix 2-3 drops of Vitamin E oil in it. Use this mixture and gently massage your nails. Use this mixture once or twice daily for 1 month to get better results. The antiseptic property of tea tree oil and vitamin E being an antioxidant, the solution of tea tree oil and vitamin E is highly effective in fortifying brittle nails.

Using these kitchen items alone will not be able to strengthen your nails. You need to eat a healthy diet for healthy nails. Additionally, you must also take other preventive measures to avoid drying, splitting, and breaking of your nails, such as not washing your hands frequently, not using nail polish remover, and wearing gloves in winter.
