Long exposure to sunlight causes harmful effects to our skin. It causes sun burns, pigmentation, rashes, itchiness, and premature wrinkles on our skin. You will get the list of foods that boost the sun-protecting ability of our screen.
- Salmon – Due to abundant omega-3 fatty acids present in Salmon boosts the skin’s immunity against harmful UV rays of the Sun.
- Pomegranate– It is rich in anti-inflammatory antioxidants, tannins, and anthocyanins. These components help in reducing the damage caused to the skin due to harmful UVB rays.
- Olive oil – It contains squalene, which has antioxidant properties and prevents the skin damage due to sun exposure. Use it as a topping on salad or use it for cooking.
- Strawberries – They are rich in antioxidant, anthocyanins, and vitamins. Thus, consuming strawberries regularly helps the skin to fight against skin damage due to UVA rays. You can have strawberries in different forms, including fruit salad, smoothie, shakes, etc.
- Red Bell pepper- You should include Red bell peppers in your snacks every day. They contain beta-carotene which helps in formation of Vitamin A in the body. 100 gm of red bell pepper contains 42 gm of beta-carotene which boosts natural sub blocking capacity of the skin.
- Sunflower seeds- They are rich source of Vitamin E, an essential component for healthy skin. Vitamin E prevents skin from getting damaged due to UV Ray’s of the sunlight. You can roast sunflower seeds and eat them or spread them on your salad.
- Avocado- Avocados are rich in Vitamin E, which are important component for preventing the skin damage due to Sun exposure. Avocados keeps skin hydrated and delay ageing of the skin.
- Tomatoes- They are rich in lycopene, which help in absorbing free radicals easily thus protects our skin from UV-induced damages. They also have anti-inflammatory properties and help keep our skin healthy. You can eat tomatoes in salads, as sauce, smoothie, or a soup.
- Watermelon- Watermelons are not only good for keeping your skin hydrated but high lycopene in them absorb free radicals, which are formed due to pollution and excess sun exposure. Additionally, Vitamin C present in the watermelon helps in repairing our skin.
- Green Tea- Green tea has anti-inflammatory and anti-ageing properties. It is rich in catechins, which is a polyphenol needed to fight against UV rays. So, you should make a habit of consuming green tea 1-2 times a day to have natural sunscreen for your skin. You can also take the tea out of used tea bags and apply on your skin to reduce sun burns.
- Dark Chocolates- they are rich in flavonols, an antioxidant that fights inflammation effectively. Flavonols are also helpful in preventing our skin from oxidative damage, which is mainly caused due to prolonged expose to sun.
- Carrots- they are rich in beta-carotenes, which are good at protecting our skin from inflammation due to sun-exposure. Carrots can be consumed in various ways, including salads, smoothies, soups, cooked food, etc.
- Almonds- almonds are rich in Vitamin E, which prevent skin from getting damaged due to UV rays. Additionally, they help keep the skin hydrated. You can eat almonds in salads, smoothies, or in oatmeal.
- Guava– They contain abundant lycopene and Vitamin C, thus help protect the skin from damage caused by UV rays of the sunlight.
- Eggs- Egg yolk is rich in lutein, which is an important antioxidant needed for healthy skin. It also helps in hydration of skin and repair UV-induced damaged caused to the skin.
Along with having the above mentioned magical foods regularly, we should use sunscreen with SPF 30 or more to prevent skin damage. We must also try to avoid direct exposure to sun between 10 am to 4 pm.
