Saplings Planting Drive in UP by the Government

On July 20, Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh said that they would create a record of planting more than 36 crore saplings across UP.

At a large-scale tree plantation drive he reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal on World Environment Day observed on June 5 to the countrymen to plant one tree each eulogizing Mother (ek ped maa ke naam). He added that global warming scares environment lovers who see it as another period of misfortune for mankind. Since we have brought this trouble upon ourselves, only we must take care of it.

“Within a day, three trees would be planted in memory of each mother force in UP; in this case, we are going to break the record ourselves by planting 36.50 crore saplings out of the total population of 25 crores UP”, he stated. In an interview, Adityanath said that they have planted around 12 crore saplings and they intend to plant more to preserve the environment.

Driving Force Behind Planting 36 Crore Saplings

The Kukrail River in Lucknow served as a host to the plantation drive launched by Adityanath. CM has taken to Prayagraj and Gorakhpur for planting of saplings too. In addition, Governor Anandiben Patel added her voice through the planting of saplings at Sitapur, while state cabinet members contributed to planting in many districts.

World Environment Day

The massive tree-planting campaign was attended by fellow citizens and dignitaries as well as various social organizations. Adityanath extended his greetings to all those who participated in this movement, including his administration.

We have experienced the menace of floods for the first time, Adityanath said. More than 20 lakh people living in 24 districts of UP were affected by this. The floods were caused as a result of heavy rainfall in Uttarakhand and Nepal. This is an adverse consequence of global warming.

“This May-June will remain in our memories for a long time,” he said. The temperature here usually stays at 42-45 degrees but this time it crossed 47-50 degrees, he states further.

It will also induce a water crisis due to this evil effect. Some areas may experience unseasonal rains while others might suffer from famine-like conditions. Therefore, droughts may occur in some places because of these modifications, claimed Adityanath.

Adityanath stated that environmental pollution through carbon emissions is increasing. In order to safeguard it, farmers enlisted themselves in the tree-planting drive. Their work was examined by global organizations. Hence, 10 such farmers shall be provided funds in the form of carbon credits. He informed us that as a result of the government’s attempts, the UP government is getting a grant worth 200 crores for this. Moreover, he said these trees have also played a crucial role in curbing emissions from carbon. The farmers would continue to get this amount for five years. Initially, 25,000 farmers are given the benefit from this facility.

Conclusion

In alignment with the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” endeavor by the Prime Minister, Yogi Adityanath took it forward by planting trees on a large scale across UP. Aimed at preserving the environment, reducing carbon emissions, and curbing global warming, Adityanath plans to do more such tree-planting drives in the future.
