  1. Temperature

  2. Moisture
    Don’t let the soil dry as keep spraying the water on the soil and check the moisture with the help of the newspaper. Keep in mind that never waters the compost or the newspaper as it may harm the growth of the mycelium.
  3. Fruiting
    Keep checking the medium as it should be damp and moist. Wait for 3-5 weeks and you will notice that your white button mushroom starts to grow. When you notice the mushroom, you need to keep the soil moist and keep spraying them whenever necessary.

To grow the white button mushroom in your garden, you need to plan your work according to these steps:

  • If you are a beginner, then you can use the mushroom kit as you will get all the necessary items in the packet. Read the instructions of the packet and work accordingly.
  • Buy a tray where you will plant the mushroom. The tray can be of plastic, metal, or even wood depending on the availability and the budget.
  • Mushroom needs nitrogen to grow as it is their main nutritional. So make a mixture of compost and manure and place them in a well-ventilated area because of their strong smell.
  • Mix the tray with the mixture but leave at least 1 inch from top to place the mushroom.
  • Purchase the spores from the store and spread them on the mixture at an equal distance.
  • Water the spores properly as don’t leave the soil dry. Always keep the soil moist and at the proper temperature.
  • Move the tray of mushrooms to a dark place as mushrooms won’t need any sunlight to grow. If you think that the soil of the mushroom is warmer than normal temperature then sprays some water in it.
  • Wait for the 3-4 weeks and you will notice the white button mushrooms are starting to grow up.
  • Use a sharp knife to slice the mushroom through the stem and get them ready to cook them.
